The problem with this case is not what we may have missed when looking at the evidence; it's the evidence we're missing! I'm referring to any BPD deposition that must exist concerning John and Patsy Ramsey's circle of friends, specifically the Whites, Walkers, Stines, and Fernies.
In fact, she had just graduated and was working at a hospital in Atlanta, according to Patsy's 1996 Christmas newsletter1. If you were Patsy with a 6-year-old daughter having an ongoing bed wetting problem, who would you turn to if your stepdaughter was a pediatric nurse? If your 6-year-old daughter repeatedly had to see the pediatrician, who would you ask for a second opinion if your stepdaughter was a pediatric nurse? Who would John ask?
Melinda was born on January 1, 1972, which makes her close to 25 when JonBenet was murdered. From Jonbenet's perspective, Melinda would have been viewed as an adult; I doubt Jonbenet viewed Belinda as a sibling, but we don't actually know. Is it a coincidence that nowhere in The Death of Innocence is Patsy's or Jonbenet's relationship with Melinda mentioned?
Nowhere have I been able to find a single interview or even statement by Melinda concerning the murder of her stepsister, a heinous crime, as Patsy would say. What I find even more perplexing is that nowhere in the police interviews have John and Patsy been asked about Melinda's involvement with Jonbenet. How has Melinda managed to stay under the radar?
Add one family member I'm particularly interested in: the daughter of John Ramsey's first marriage, Melinda Ramsey Long. The Long comes from Stewart Long, her fiance at the time of Jonbenet's murder, whom she later married. What I find so interesting about her, and what the Boulder detectives should have too, is the fact that she was a pediatric nurse at the time of the murder.

I'll bet my last dollar that it's very deliberate and part of a Team Ramsey strategic decision.
Was an internal gag order issued? Also, housekeeper Linda Hoffman has no mention of Melinda. There is no evidence of Jonbenet (or Patsy) actually bonding with Melinda. Was Burke connecting with John Andrew, by the way? It seems that family reunions happened during summer holidays in Charlevoix, but has anyone verified this?
Perfect Murder, Perfect Town doesn't even have third-hand information about Melinda and her interaction with Patsy and JonBenet. PMPT does mention (p. 51) that Melinda was questioned in Atlanta for two-and-a-half hours by Detective Kim Steward (John Andrew by Detectives Ron Gosage and Steve Thomas). She and John Andrew also testified before the Grand Jury in 1999. No transcripts are available, to my knowledge.
Summary: The moment I realized that Melinda was a pediatric nurse, BOOM. Melinda and John Andrew both had dedicated bedrooms in the Boulder house, and both of them seemed to have been in stealth mode when visiting Boulder. Add to this that Christmas was a huge deal to Patsy, yet the Charleviox trip was to be the first time the siblings would be together for Christmas (DoI p. 5). Weird.
I haven't seen any of the renowned researchers deal with Melinda's interaction with Jonbenet and Patsy, or lack thereof, and what she knew about Jonbenet's bedwetting and strange toilet habits. Did this never happen in Charlevoix, or was Melinda deliberately kept in the dark about Jonbenet's dysfunctional behavior?
