Arjan Hut I did my best. I found the Cox Box Top was yellow and had a date and number. I found it to be a ring box from Cox's
The R42 printed inside the box top is likely for size of ring as its a jewelry box.
There was only the top of the box entered into evidence but no designation as to which officer found or signed it into evidence. IE not attributed to arrest or searches.
There were many trails I followed. I spoke with Mr Jackson whose payroll check stub was also found and included in the Oswald material. Researched the store, Marguerite's employment there in 1948-9
The stores locations, inventories, and moves. The box top gave clues.
Was R42 a ring in style 42 or year of 1942 I never found a Cox's ring box from 40's-50's but still look now and then.
The Carcano ammo in a clip would not fit the box
A few 38's would fit but the box top was never tested by FBI.
The box top is not torn in half, tear is nothing but a ripped corner. Yes we all would like to examine the Cox Box Top in person but the archives are clueless about it.
There is always the possibility the item was in the dropped jacket or found during a second search Saturday the 23rd of Beckley. Why would it be included but not attributed to its finder....
Lots more to uncover in the JFK case. Keep asking questions. Cheers
