Denis Morissette recently made this copy of one of the HSCA tapes available:
00:30 Neighbor problems? Note pitch raise...so BWF didn't know anything about the neighbors during work hours, how about evenings and weekends?
01:00 14 year old kid with Oswald? Negative.
01:30 The TSBD parking lot...
03:15 In the reserves? Awkward pause, Q not expected and he seems not to like the subject.
05:15 Jarman/Junior.
05:25 Job agency, doesn't recall.
05:42 How Oswald got the job...pitch raise!
05:49 Well, he came in and he applied for the job...but,...
05:55 The coffee story...LMR knew Wes worked overtime...but no according to time records in CE 1949, oops!
06:05 More help needed? Check with Shelley/Truly....jumps time line....now assuming Ruth Paine tips off Marina who tells Lee; no reason to apply if no job available!
06:49 Now throws in the job agency, might have been through them...
07:00 Oswald put Wes down as reference? Negative.
07:10 When LHO first(!) came and applied he (Shelley) asked if Frazier knew him.
07:30 BWF instrumental in Oswald getting the job? No, didn't actually know Oswald at that time...elegant way out of what sounded to me as a trap.
08:20 Supervisor was Shelley.
08:40 Remembering coworkers...
09:25 New pictures surfaced? Nothing conclusive, Lovelady is brought up but BWF want to deflect...interviewer backs off.
09:40 Catering truck...comfortable just talking.
11:55 LHO, no particular place taking his lunch.
12:00 How did LHO/Lovelady get along? Interesting question, why was that asked?
12:35 How did LHO/Jarman get along? Don't get what he's driving at.
12:40 Asked about Ed Shields...worked primarily in the Houston building, so why did interviewer bring him up? Frazier starts talking, deflection?
14:30 Lovelady, note deflection "I would say this blabla...". Drifts into his country boy routine...why not a straight answer to the question?
14:40 Discussing assassination with Lovelady?
15:55 Frazier's loses track (deflection) of what he's explaining! Awkward pause! Victim of circumstance...could have happened to any body (character testimony).
17:30 Written statements, this gets very interesting...
17:45 Any actual statements? Statements where they (including DP) took it and BWF signed it. Pause and deflecting, fast forward to the WC....but that's not what he was asked!
18:38 Deflection noted, like signing an AFFIDAVIT? Always went with the evidence produced by the WC....what?!
18:46 "You never really had to sign a statement or an affidavit?" Ackward pause....but saved by the bell...!
19:00 Post break, interviewer concludes: NO. Did BWF really forget he signed a two page affidavit outlining the curtain rod story? SPECULATION: Is he mentally back in the interrogation room with Fritz and the alleged statement he later mentions?
20:20 Clothing, goes nowhere....see later comment.
23:30 Shop talk, guns....?
24:00 Never talked with LHO about firearms....got best responses from weather, traffic, his children. How did he know this worked unless he had asked? So Lee was mainly interest in weather, traffic and kids! Deflecting into football stuff...
25:27 Back on track...
25:55 So why would BWF assume the Lee was a city boy instead of simply ask him? IMO, all BS. Conversation drifting into BWF's guns...some slight pauses...part of it I can't understand.
28:50 Marina/LHO's mother....never met the mother.
29:05 Pause (Marina)...note pitch raises "up and down the sidewalk"...umm...how could he NOT remember if he really met her? Talking a lot to her? As BWF didn't speak Russian it shouldn't be too hard to remember and if she had spoken to him in English, wouldn't he have been duly impressed. BWF is obviously in trouble here.
30:30 About the 21st/22nd...that's an almost 10 minutes monologue! Note pitch raises on the way.
32:10 Now Marina has made curtains for the rods...
32:50 The 22nd...he's in narrative mode now, couldn't have seen Oswald around the car.
33:15 Now it's the sister who announces Lee's arrival, "Here comes Lee" although in her affidavit he was a stranger she did not recognize, and according to BWF (WC) she did not talk to him at all that morning and it was the mother who spotted LHO at the window.
34:25 Again, now with curtains!
35:40 Battery story...initially sits with BWF when charging battery, why? Better get a head start with that bag, right?
36:30 BWF in car 2-3 minutes after Lee has left the car...drifts into battery rant...
37:15 Watching the trains...Lee ahead of him a good 100 or 150 yards or more. OUCH, that was a few feet in the WC version.
37:45 No need to catch up, not running late at the time.
38:15 "...went and took my lunch up", took it up where? (WC, Mr. FRAZIER - I went like I did every morning, I went down in the basement there and hung up my coat and put up my lunch.)
39:20 End of monologue.
39:55 Lunch time...BWF had already eaten his lunch prior the the parade. OUCH, in the WC version he disappears into the basement after the shooting to eat his lunch because this is were he usually ate his lunch (RE later public interviews). Anyone buying this?
40:30 Recapitulating events....interviews now trying to box him in.
40:55 Those rods and curtains again...
41:51 Morning of the 22nd...usually leaves a few minutes after 7...traffic heavy down town. Slight problem here: To the WC BWF said he left at 7:21 (breakfast between 7:00 and 7:15) so LHO would also have been late if they normally left a little after 7 in the morning.
42:20 Picking up LHO, how does it work? LHO arriving early (pitch raise!), because Frazier was usually out kicking tires, check water etc. waiting for him but he was early that day.
42:40 Usually BWF would be waiting for him! OUCH, not what he told the WC, actually, it was quite the opposite. LHO arriving at the house was the exception! Big mistake here by BWF.
43:40 Trying to trick BWF ;-)
43:52 He was in the car? (trap ;-)
44:00 BWF smells trouble, Lee besides the car OR just waiting outside.
44:12 "...you always locked the car?" (let's try again, how did he get access to the locked car?)
40:20 BWF is ready for that one... ;-)
44:35 Door could be locked but it wouldn't lock. Does explain how Rose/Stovall got access to his car at the hospital.
45:00 "He [LHO] figured that one out!" Sure did because in the WC scenario (always picking up LHO) he (LHO) would see BWF locking his car on the parking lot and expect the car to be locked.
45:14 BWF gets in the car, glanced over his shoulder, then what does he say? Can't make it out.
45:30 ....and the curtains? It seems they kind of go together! ;-)
45:40 Recapping...
46:20 Clothing (trap?)....BWF long pause, knows something is cooking but doing fine, explains about co-worker's clothing.
47:01 BWF senses the trap: Did Lee change clothes when he was not with BWF?
48:50 Oswald about lunchtime....BWF just declines having seen him, knows he's safe now.
48:05 Break, then discussion concerning the front stairs, no comments on my part.
